Custom Tailoring & Alterations · Johns Creek, Georgia

Medlock Alterations

Unlike our fictional concept studies, this one starts from a real, live website. It demonstrates how we would approach a redesign: keep what makes the business distinctive, and rebuild the structure around what visitors need to decide.

Concept Disclosure

Medlock Alterations is a real, independent business. This is unsolicited concept work created to demonstrate design approach. Medlock Alterations has not seen, commissioned, or endorsed this redesign, and it is not a client project.

01

The Challenge (Hypothetical)

Medlock Alterations' real website is a stock Wix template built around a single unbroken block of paragraph text. There's no clear next step for a visitor, no signal of the craftsmanship or personal fit process the business is known for, and nothing that distinguishes a third-generation custom tailoring shop from any other clothing site.

02

The Strategy

The concept opens with a direct value statement and real photography of the fitting process, then guides visitors through a short “What do you need?” selector before ever asking for a consultation. Process and craftsmanship are demonstrated, not just claimed.

  • Give visitors an obvious next step (schedule a consultation) instead of a wall of text
  • Communicate the craftsmanship, personal fit process, and Savile Row lineage that set Medlock apart
  • Help visitors figure out which service they need before asking them to commit

The Experience

A palette with a point of view

A tailored navy-and-brass palette replaces the generic template defaults, and editorial typography gives the business the presence of an established shop.

Guidance before booking

A “What do you need?” selector routes visitors to the right service before they book, so the consultation request feels like a next step rather than a leap.

Real craft, shown

Photography of the fitting and tailoring process is used throughout in place of stock product imagery.

04

The Customer Journey

  1. Arrival

A clear headline and a Schedule a Consultation action visible without scrolling.

  2. Understanding

The service selector clarifies the difference between custom clothing and alterations.

  3. Trust

Lineage, process, and craftsmanship are shown with real imagery rather than claimed in a paragraph.

  4. Exploration

A simplified estimator sets timeline and pricing expectations before anyone has to pick up the phone.

  5. Action

An FAQ addresses common hesitations (appointments, walk-ins, altering clothing bought elsewhere) right before the consultation request.

05

The Mobile Experience

On a phone, the headline, Schedule a Consultation, a secondary path to explore custom options, and the shop's location all fit in the first screen, replacing a block of text that was difficult to read on any device.

06

The Intended Outcome

The concept is intended to show how a redesign can preserve what makes a long-standing business distinctive while giving visitors a clear, confident path to a consultation.

Because Medlock has not seen or commissioned this work, it has no real-world results. It exists to demonstrate how we evaluate and rebuild an existing website.
